Castables

HASLE castables are manufactured on the basis of our own unique recipes. Even though our recipes are considered being among the best in the world, we continuously invest in R&D and plant equipment in order to improve our products even more.

In order to make the best quality of materials, we source only the very best raw materials - no recycled materials and no prefabs from other suppliers. At HASLE we are sourcing our raw materials from suppliers in 14 different countries all over the world. We are in no way depending on using local or domestic raw materials . We are free to choose the very best raw materials, and we do so.

Our castables are manufactured in our own highly automated plant and our internal procedures ensure that we deliver a consistent, high quality. We have a detailed quality system which secures that all castables leaving our factory comply with our high requirements on particle-size distribution, castability and physical properties.

Our castables can be grouped as follows: traditional, low-cement, pumpable, shocrete, gunning and insulating castables plus mortars. Each type of castable has its own characteristics and fields of application. These are described below. Our technicians will be happy to assist you in choosing which castables to use for different applications.

In order to achieve the best possible result with HASLE castable we highly recommed following a strict procedure. The procedure is shown in the below file:

Type Characteristics

Tradtional

Traditional castables are composed of relatively few and well-known components. They are available with a wide range of properties allowing use for not too demanding jobs where mechanical and chemical action on the castable is low.

Low-cement

(LCC)

HASLE LCC's (dense castables) are developed to achieve the best combination of mechanical strength and resistance to impact and alkaline corrosion at high temperature.

The LCC castables are characterised by a very low porosity which reduces the risk of slag attack and corrosion. Consequently the low-cement castables are highly resistant to alkaline attacks from e.g. sodium and potassium salts – compounds that are often occurring in bio-fuels, waste etc.

This means a lining with long lifetime and high durability, and on a long view LCC will be a more economical choice than the traditional castables.

Pumpable

Shotcrete

Gunning

These fine-grained and flexible castables are designed for pumping and spraying. The pumpables are pumped to the moulds and do not require vibration. To learn more about installation, please click here.

The pumpable materials can also be applied by shotcreting. This method makes it possible to apply the material faster than by traditional casting. However the required equipment is expensive and difficult to handle.

The gunning castables are gunned onto walls and ceilings with minimal waste.  The rebound is extremely low and second to none. Gunning castables distinguish themselves by their very quick application time. To learn more about gunning, please click here (GUN 59A) and here (GUN 39A).

Insulating

Insulating castables differ from other castables either by the main component of the castable, the grog, consisting of components with very high porosity, or by these components forming very porous structures by heating.

From an application point of view insulating castables are competing with insulating (porous) bricks. An insulating castable is suited as filling material between e.g. a high refractory lining and block insulation. The insulating castable flows into all corners and cracks and leaves no cavities. Besides it is easy and uncomplicated to handle.

Mortars
Mortars were developed to bind bricks together in bricked linings. Refractory mortars are made from fire clay and refractory clay/cement where the particle size has been adapted for the desired application.
